Those that provide the best of what I don't
A dual-window database of the 100 most influential people in movie history. Although somewhat arbitrary it is, nonetheless, comprehensive on both filmography and biography. A reasonable starting point for initial research. The cinema-specific section of the website for The Guardian newspaper. Always contains some interesting features on less prominent filmmakers as well as the mainstream. Journal of Film and Popular Culture This site offers a wonderfully eclectic mix of intelligent material. Previous sections, many of which remain archived on the site, include "The Western", "Italian Gothic Horror Cinema" and "Hollywood Stars of the Thirties". Always worth a browse Equally worth a browse One of the best sites for movie news, images and reviews, lovingly presented and extremely thorough scoops. Loads of sections covering articles, genre, industry, lists, competitions and trailers. Not remotely precious and a good site for trivia. A great site for anyone who wants access to original scripts, many "shooting", for TV, anime and film as well as fun stuff like cut scenes. Thorough and lively. Extremely thorough fan-based site specialising in the horror genre. Graphics intensive so a little slow but if you can show patience and horror is your thing, this is as good as it gets. Mind bogglingly extensive database. If you're looking for it, it will be here! Self styled "Hollywood's Indie Voice" mixes the intelligent with the frivolous in an entertaining way. Online magazine of motion picture and TV music appreciation. Self explanatory and lots to explore. A news-based site dedicated to all things film and filmmaking. Looks great and very user-friendly. A site for those who do want a bit of celebrity gossip/pictures with their new release news... Advance word, reviews and articles lavishly presented... |
